Books are fantastic collectibles because they age very well, require little extra care, and are also super simple to store.
They tend to also be reasonably priced (most of the time if you buy it when it comes out, at least) and on shelves for a good long amount of time. Books are important for info on the era that they're in, and can provide a good look at what Sonic/franchise was up to at the time. It's highly encouraged to collect and read Sonic books!
This page is for books made after 2015...so, all modern, but most likely will be 2020 and later on this page.
Sonic Coloring Books Kids & Adults Covers Coloring Books!
Now they're for everybody! These fun OFFICIAL coloring books are well worth their while, as they're packed with great official art and nice page layouts to color. The kids book has 64 pages for coloring and features big, easy to color character arts. The adults book is the same size, but it has complex-on-purpose patterns and art.
Coloring Book Back Covers The book backs show examples of the art, and tell you about what you'll get inside. The adult book says its ok to 'go fast' and also to slow down and relax with coloring. The kids book basically tells you it's a good gift for kids. Neither one is very expensive, and both are on Amazon starting in spring 2023.
Gear tip:
Copy the pages on a copier or take a photo & print it out so you can color it again and again. These books DO use 2 sided pages so you may get bleed-thru of color if you don't do it that way. Also placing a paper under the page while coloring can prevent press-thru.
Coloring Kids 4 Pages Coloring Adults 4 Pages Here are examples of the pages that you will get when you buy these books. The left side has the kids coloring pages. As you can see, they're nice big line arts of the stock art for the characters with minimal background. They didn't skimp on characters/there's not tons of repeats so it's never boring.
The right side shows art typical of the adult book: a full background Eggmanland is there, the characters are seen over a complex pattern of faces/portraits and geometric designs, and 2-page spreads with many characters and pattern backgrounds to color. It'll always be interesting, and takes long to complete on purpose.
Color by Sticker Book Cover Color By Sticker Book Back Interior It's Sonic The Official Color By Sticker Book!
No crayons, no markers...just loads of tiny stickers to have relaxing art fun with. Color by sticker is a popular new type of 'coloring book', where you get blank outlines with tons of little numbered spaces in them. You then peel the corrisponding tiny sticker from a different page in the book
and place it on the matching area in the art. Once you're finished, you get mosaic-like kind of polygon looking? arts like the Sonic on the cover there. You can then remove the book's pages and have the art as a mini poster or so. The quality of the art depends on how good you are at precicely setting down small sticky stickers.
Books like this are usually a bit more than regular coloring books, as they have so many stickers in them. So, this is about 17 dollars or so. The book back shows which arts you can make. The right side photo shows how Amy's page looks before it is filled in, and what the stickers are like for the Super Sonic page. This is an interesting book to try.

Sonic & Friends Sticker Activity Book Sonic & Friends Book Inside
This is the Sonic & Friends Sticker Activity Book.
It's a small, soft-cover booklet for little kids. It has word searches, coloring pages and 'finish the comic panel' type activities in it. The last pages are all full color CG art stickers for the characters. There may be a bit of difficulty to use it because the size is small, it's like a 7 inch book, and the audience for it (little kids) have trouble drawing and coloring super tiny things. It also doesn't have tons of pages. At 5 dollars it is an ok value. This is an Amazon item in 2024
Sonic Shadow Spaziante Coloring Book Another actual Official Coloring Book appears.
Remember BEWARE of fake coloring books on Amazon! The place is LOADED with fakery, always verify or you're going to get horrible stolen art. In this case, the art is done by Patrick Spaziante, a name which people may not have heard since Archie Comics Sonic days. He re-enters the art world again, to bring out this "Sonic And Shadow The Official Coloring Book" with 64 pages of coloring inside.
He also is apparently really channeling his Sonic X style era as well. This artist was one of/the most popular artists to work on the Archie Comics because he tended to draw more on-model and with more detail than like...a lot of their other people in the days that he was most active.
This appears in 2025 (of course to capitalize on Sonic Shadow Generations) and is pretty reasonable at about 8 dollars on Amazon. If you like the Sonic X type of style, or Spaziante's art, it's an all right book to pick up.
Bendon Jumbo Sonic Coloring Book A retail coloring book is always good to see!
(Appearing in physical stores, not just online, that is) This is the Bendon Jumbo Coloring & Activity book for Sonic. And, it is quite good! However, it is by no means' Jumbo' in any sense of the word. It's not larger than normal, and it is not super thick/many pages. Why they called it 'jumbo' and were allowed to is unknown--but this does not mean it's bad, it's just misleading with that one word.
It's qutie reasonably priced at 2.99, and it has 'tear n share' pages which are perforated so you can pull them out if desired. (Really just push it on a copier and make many pages) What's very nice about it is that it features SO many characters with big nice art. Each character appears with their theme-chao at least once, there are slogan pages, group shots, Metal Sonic appears, Eggman solo pages, Infinite is in there, SS Gens Shadow shows up, Team Dark, Emerl & Cream too. Some of the pages may have ink transfer/rubs/darkening from the opposite page as the quality isn't perfect. The art is neither too complex nor too simple, the variety is good.
This has been seen at Hobby Lobby and Barnes and Noble retail stores. At 3 bucks each just buy more than one if you want to color it for fun it's reasonable enough to do that.
What is Bendon? It's a kids crafts, markers, books/activity stuff for little kids company that now mysteriously includes snack foods. They work with famous brands like Disney and Little Tikes etc. to make branded stuff. This seems to be their first with Sonic, but this item is very nice so hopefully they keep going and do something else for him.
