Jakks Pacific got the license in 2019, and continues here in 2024. This page will have their 2023 / 2024 articulated larger-5 inch size figures only. They have both modern and classic license, so any figure that falls in the "Articulated Action Figures" category will be on this page if it was in 2023 or 2024. Bendy type figures, deluxe figures & small line or car-figures will go onto a separate page. But if it's by Jakks Pacific and it's an action figure, check them out here. UK NEWS: These & other JP figures CAN be at Smyth's Stores! |

Here come the Hard Boiled Heavies! Straight from Eggmans forces are figures of the Heavy King and the Heavy Gunner in the 5 inch size. And...these are great! It's a real surprise to see them because really they're only in about 1 game as bosses and didn't have tons of plot involved around them. (So, it's still kind of odd to see these before someone like Charmy or Tikal or something) However, they are quite well done, as robots as action figures usually work out really well. Each has 13 points of articulation and is on a different wave. King is with Sonic, Knuckles and Metal MK2, while Gunner is with Mephiles, Super Sonic & Shadow. Sadly, everyone is HARD TO GET except for the Sonic/Knuckles and to a degree the Super Sonic. |

They DID NOT release enough of any of the non-STK characters on either wave so if you see either of these guys buy them right away. Villains, especially mini-bosses or level-bosses like this may be less likely to get re-released later. | ||||||||||
Heavy King comes with his crystal scepter, which looks very good because it is indeed a solid plastic ball on the top there so it reflects light nicely. It is super-duper interesting how chicken-coded he is without ever having an actual chicken-feature on him? It is very cool how Eggman pulled that off in his design. The toy uses metallic gold plastic for his accents. (So where's the metallic Silver for Metal Sonic ARGHGHGH) His box back says "The leader of the Hard Boiled Heavies walks tall and carries a big scepter". (Which essentially says nothing about it) The Heavy Gunner is clearly dressed up as a sherrif-bot, with the capsule light on the head, visor over the eyes, and straps/sherrif star design on the front. He retains the pants-buttons of the regular Egg-robos. He comes with his rocket backpack so he can fly, and the big square gun from the boss battle, which he can hold. The box back says "The more destructive member of the Hard Boiled Heavies, Heavy Gunner demands you respect the authority." Extra things to note: He has a comms mic/earpiece on even though those are built in to robots already. Packaging wise, you can notice (in person) an extra dot of clear plastic applied over the star on him so that he won't get box-window-rub if it takes a hit in stores. This is SUPER CONSIDERATE of them, and shows real logic and thinking ahead for the collector! They really care! Great touch, A+ |

Metal Sonic 3.0 arrives on the scene in spring/summer 2024. And, of course, so does more demand for him than there is supply because he's on yet another wave that has the same Sonic & Knuckles that everybody already owns that are warming the shelves. The other on his wave is Heavy King. As fits with the plot, the only real difference with this Eggman robot is that he has a yellow and black paint theme, rather than the previous Sonic-copying one. Still, it's great to see every badguy it seems getting a good figure. He comes with a red star ring. |

The box back says "Identical to Metal Sonic except for a fresh paint job, Metal Sonic 3.0 is one of the most powerful robots in the world". Which, as seems to be their tradition now says nothing about him really. (They should at least mention the game he was in or something) Another great figure here, as expected. They did pay attention to the 'new paint', he is correct but still could have used the silver/metallic to look better (as with everything) The red of the eyes is pretty dark on the black, but the subtle effect for it is good. Get this one if you can, he's an uncommon character, and as a villain, it's unknown if they'll release him again. |

From Metal Sonic 3.0 to Neo Metal Sonic...Jakks just keeps making winners! THIS is going to be a popular figure so...better hope for a re-release before this thing even hits shelves. An obscure character? Check. Looks like nobody else? Check. Is a badguy? Check. AND a Metal-Sonic? Also check and all those add up to high prices and low availablitly, especially because you know they'll land him on a wave with repeated-into-the-ground characters that nobody needs and likely short-pack him as well. So keep your eyes on the shelves because this one's likely to be a doozy. Of course, that's because it looks very cool like the games. You can see the waist detail, those 'sleeve' like things are on there, and they didn't skimp on the super long spikes either. It's very regal and interesting. This is a must-grab but the issue is being able to do so for a reasonable rate. This is supposed to arrive in fall 2024 at the usual stores (target, walmart) but it's sure to be maybe their hottest seller aside from Mephilies so far. |
