Jakks Pacific got the license in 2019, and continues here in 2025. This page will have their 2024 / 2025 articulated larger-5 inch size figures only. They have both modern and classic license, so any figure that falls in the "Articulated Action Figures 5 inches will be on this page. 				Jakks Pacific seems to be trying to start a new type of 5 inch figure, the Comic Book Figures. With this, they start with the IDW Comic only plot line "The Metal Virus". In this case, the Sonic figure is afflicted with the virus so he has different silver paint, an upset expression, and only some of his original color remaining. His accessory here is the evil-ized "zombie Froggy" that went along with this part in the plot. The release of this is somewhat contested because usually comic book merchandise is restricted to special things at comic cons (see the Whisper/Tangle keychains etc that keep coming out at the booth) but this is supposed to get a store release but they won't say where...in the USA. UK consumers though have confirmation
			that it will be at Smyth's stores, just like other main line figures. Will it be limited edition? What about the price? Details pending whatever happens with this
	Classic Amy Rose gets the 5 inch size figure treatment, and she looks great. This version of her has lots of little details, and, as expected, they do get them all/right. The shoe colors/laces, the cap-sleeves, and even the white underwear is there. The skirt is wavy, but not overly-so, it does look like the games. Her expression is naturally cheerful looking, and she has the usual 12 points of articulation. This release comes with the 10 ring icon. The wave also sees another of just normal modern Sonic, classic Tails and re-release of Espio--which really was needed. He still comes with the star post. Amy appears in Summer 2025 at the usual places like Walmart and Target, Gamestop has been getting Jakks Pacific figures too, so do stop by to see who they have (and if they don't---DO ask for figures!)
					A closer look at the excellent Jakks Pacific 5 Inch Jet the Hawk figure! He comes with his Extreme Gear board (of course) as his accessory. He's a detailed character, so he makes a great figure, because they really do a great job when there's lots of little fiddly stuff on the character. Notice the goggles details, the sculpting on the chest feathers, and the head feathers are all proportionate, just like in the games. You can turn his tail for a bit of added posing. His hands are still in 'grip' pose for both of them but these guys never seem to come with something to actually hold. The board has pegs on top so you can fit them to his boots. There are 2 little bars under the board so it is easier to have him standing on it/the bottoms of those weren't flat because they are meant to fly/float anyway, so that is an all right solution.
The board is made of lighter weight hollow plastic. You CAN push it into his hand so he can hold it, but it doesn't seem quite like the hand was posed as meant to do that. He holds it ok, and this of course allows for even more poses. It's a great figure with a cool accessory that's just like the games. With Crossworlds coming out, this figure is sure to be a hit no-matter what. (Note that this is the 2nd release of him, he was on an earlier wave of figures, but they did not make enough and he sold out so it is very good that they are re-releasing him. Hopefully they keep him on shelves through the game's release.) He can appear at Target, Walmart and Game Stop in fall 2025. Game Stop MAY be more reliable depending on where you are.
						A better look at Mephilies when it is MOC. You can see the crackle texture, that he has 'sort of feet', and a look at the detail of his flames/thing base. He was on a wave with Super Sonic, the Egg Heavy Gunner and Shadow. This was a figure that was in short supply
when it was released. Hopefully, it can re-release.
						Fresh from Northstar Island comes the 5 inch size Trip figure! With the cute and fun armor, the 'secret' character looks like the games. You can see her tail back there too in the side photo. The helmet is not removable/it is the head. She comes with the spiked pad accessory, and has 12 points of articulation.
(Did they count the tail?) She was on a wave with only old/re-release characters of classic Sonic (different expression) modern Knuckles, and Metal Sonic with that Eggman trap panel. Because the rest of the wave is commonly repeated characters, it makes it liklier for her to sell out faster. Hopefully this one can get a re-release in the future too, or a gimmick figure where it has snap on/off armor or something could be fun as well. Still, def. grab this one if you see it!
