If tt's not an action figure. It's not a statue...it's a Display Figure! These non-actioning figures are like little statues you can collect. Not particularly 'toys' they can be made of resin, PVC, hard plastic or other materials that hold detail well. Usually they're in cases or on bases, all the better for displaying. This is an international page. The figures here can be from any country, and it will be noted near each one where it's from. Especially with more modern figures (Like First4Figures) the item may be produced in a certain country and mostly advertised there (ex. the USA) however since they're sold over the web, they ship anywhere in the world, making the items available to all. The "International" approach to Sonic items is really the best one, because Sonic fans live everywhere on Earth and everyone wants an opportunity to collect. |

SOF-ViP is a Japanese vinyl figure company. They're associated with 'electric toys' (which have nothing to do with electric or battery power, its just a name) The figures they do are made & assembled in Japan, so they're larger and higher quality than other items, and likely made in smaller batches & not available at wide retail like other mass produced stuff might be. (also typical of vinyls like this) They do brands other than Sonic, and they seem to only have the classic license in 2023. They also do what all vinyl figure companies seem to: make the same thing as many times as possible to sell it over and over again by varying what it is made out of. Fans may choose to try to get all, or select favorite schemes. Some are more limited than others. Here you can see a selection of their Sonics, with classic/standard at the left. They did him in satin finish silver, transparent blue with glitter in, black/white or 'grayscale', pastel colors, metallic colors and the new "Emotional Toys SLYME" green. They're sold in bags with hang tab tops that have the branding/company info. They're slightly pose-able, as seen above (spin feet, turn leg, move arms simply) but still really a display figure. |

Of course, they need classic Tails too, so here's their vinyl regular version of him. It looks quite nice (These are fairly big) with all of his classic detail such as the center smile, right shape for the eyes, differently colored glove/sock bands and good color proportions for his shoes. The tails are also nice and big, and everything looks well attached.

An interesting variation! Perhaps the most interesting variant SOFvip did so far is this totally transparent one for both Sonic & Tails (It should be assumed that for every variation you see of Sonic, they likely also have that same color applied to a Tails somewhere) These look almost like some kind of slightly ghostly CG rendering things, with them on the black background. Peering through the plastic, you can see how the limbs are attached and a bit of how they are built. It's very interesting, this was a good choice for an effect, and no one else has done it yet. |

They didn't stop at Sonic, SOFvip also did Super Sonic, though later on so there's only 2 of him so far. There's traditional colors yellow, and then a densly gold glitter one to help carry on the effect. The figure here isn't clear like the glitter ones above, but gets its color solely from the densly glittery vinyl.

Here are 3 more Tails figures from SOFVip, where they have him in a satin finish silver, gold, and transparent orange with gold glitter in it. Because their starting sculpt and paint job is always good, the variations look nice here as well. The glitter figure is especially fun because it combines the right amount of gliter with the orange vinyl so he sparkles but comes out the correct color. (As SS up there is a bit 'copper' when he should be more gold)

Here is SOFVip Sonic in his packaging front and back, so you can see that they got the spikes correct and his head shape is good/normal. The package top has the copyrights, both companies, that its' a collectors-item for 15 and up, and also helps show about how big it is. These are all likely to be 2023 items.

The SOFVips must be succeeding, because early 2024 will see the release of yet another variation: Pale Transparent Sonic. Instead of being all clear, just the blue parts are clear, and the rest is painted normally. It's an interesting and ok look for him, especially if you didn't alraedy have the glitter version (seen above) It is suspected that they'll do a Tails in this similar style, because they always have made both in the past, it seems. This is still a Japan exclusive item. |

Now the buildable figures are in 2 packs, AND they're metallic too! Just-Toys takes the opportunity to re release the figures, and makes them different enough by adding metallic paint.
This is a great opportunity if you missed a figure in stores the first time/and the metallic color means not minding so much having a duplicate of a character. They're also a better deal, because the 2 pack is 26 dollars, but they were originally 15 dollars for a single figure. They DO all have the same amount of accessories and extra arms/they work the same. But what this is also going to do? Make the Amy even more rare and desireable. If you've got her, hang onto that figure! Remember, she was the least common to begin with out of the original 5 figures on the wave, and now that she's not here, it'll drive the price up even more. |

Flocked figures are back from Funko & this time it's a new pose for both Shadow and Amy in this 2 pack box. Amy is doing a thumbs up (the previous one had her with her hammer) and Shadow is...gliding? Walking? You can see the flock texture of the figures in the photo. Well I guess these are ok if you like Pops, the giant heads limit what they can be shown doing/posing, and the blank expressions are...well ever-present, so I guess here's more of them to go after in Funko's apparently infinite stream of these. |

Now, Rouge the Bat gets a Funko pop figure. In her first release, she comes with 3-point-stance Knuckles in a POP-2-pack. It looks like they have her doing a thumbs-up gesture here, while standing normally. The Knuckles pose is dynamic enough to make him different from their previous one of him. Rouge's body-sculpt looks all right as well, they didn't skip the details and you can see her wings back there a bit. (How about that expression though? The eyelashes are positiviely enormous, and does it look unimpressed or high? At least the eyelids obscure the...pop..ness...of those blank dots) This should be available at Target, Game Stop & likely Amazon. |

The buildable figures (sets 1 and the 2 packs) were a success, so Just Toys is releasing another set, this time with only classic style characters to build. The gimmick is the same, each has 4 different arms that you can switch out so they're doing different gestures or holding accessories. There's finger waving sonic, Super Sonic with an emerald, Tails with a wrench, Amy with her hammer, and Knuckles with the green emerald. (Super Sonic takes the place of Shadow, of course to complete the set with 5 figures as the other sets were) The gimmick is still good, the sculpts are nice and classic, as are the poses and the price is still pretty fair.
If they can distribute these to Target, Gamestop and more (properly) this wave should also be a nice success for Just Toys in spring/summer 2024

Here's more from Forever Clever. (Their Amy is on the previous page) Here are Mini Figure With Cards Tails & Eggman. They've chosen fist-shaking Eggman and Waving Tails for their poses. They're good enough/active choices that will look good on the shelf. The bubble cards are also well done for the size of the figure, so keeping them MOC is also all right. These keep popping up at discount retailers like Burlington, Ross & DDs Discounts...but where were they suppsoed to be? They're selling for about 3 dollars or 4 each, which is a great price, but how much were they originally? |

Here's what the Tails figure looks like loose, and the cards that he comes with. You get 'determined flying Tails' and a cheering Charmy Bee card with him. The figure itself is good, a real display figure/the tails don't turn, and are faced down so he's harder to tip over. The pose is nice, and the paint applications are good for a small item. The shoe paint may be a tad thin, but it's not a big deal. The camera still doesn't like how super shiny the cards are.

Here is Eggman loose, with his cards. He comes with pointing Eggman, and fist up Metal Sonic. The foil use here is actually really cool, look at the left photo and Metal's red eye 'lights up' at certain angles. His paint is good as well, Forever Clever is doing a good job with these small display figures. The pose looks natural, he stands well, and they did get all of his details on there.
Opinion Zone: These are great because they're such a bargain. Also, you get to choose the character there's none of that blindboxing bs going on here. The cards are a cool addition and provide the 'surprise factor' that some people may be looking for. The foil is also a very fun gimmick, it would be cool to see a whole set of collectible cards that use foil to spice things up in fun ways. (Like Super Sonic but only he is the rainbow foil so it looks like the games, Metal Sonic but make him shiny silver, etc.) Hopefully this is a first wave/does well and they make more characters later AND we find out where these were supposed to be released because bargain basements weren't it. |

There's something strange going on here... But first: this is what all 6 of the Figures with Cards from Forever Clever looks like. The photo reaveals that someone comes with an Espio card too. (Every figure comes with a card of itself, and another character) It's good to see what they look like out of the package with this bundle photo but... We've sure got something odd goin on here at Amazon. The bundle appears there for about 35 dollars for everything but it's got stuff that it should have. That wierdo "Captain Rexman" space dinosaur guy is somehow on a door knob hanger, and there's Movie 2 stickers also included. Those are BOTH very bootleggy things to do! So why do them? The figures ARE real and official, there's no reason to include other odd characters and movie stuff with them? Rexman also sometimes shows up with official school supplies too, who is he and why is Amazon/ amazon-sellers trying to push him in with Sonic? Doing stuff like that just makes the bundle look bogus, not better. It's still an ok way to get all of the figures at once since finding them at retail is apparently pretty spotty. |
